If you were going to screw them in while they were off the wall Why did you sum down instead of screwing them from the back of the board?

Nice, good thing you weren’t just drilling holes near that light switch to look for a stud.

Reply
Ryan Laporte 22/10/2021 - 21:03

Tip

Drill a little drill bit in the gap of the electrical box and the drywall to find the stud .

Just go to Woodglut if you want to know how to do it yourself.

To find and locate studs measure 16"O.C(On Center) from either end of the wall and there is your stud thank me later!!! LOL FYI: in rare occasions you will have it 24"O.C but that is typically in older homes

Keep your stud finder. It comes in handy. You will need it for future projects. Believe me I have used mine many many times.

You completely missed every step to step you just explained but didn’t show, awful video!
To everyone out there you don’t have to screw the 2×4 how he did you can screw it from the back side of that is going to go against the wall just use a drill bit to make a whole so it won’t crack !! & then screw it on to the wall, if you don’t find studs you can also screw some in angle but that’s only if you are going to put pictures or books nothing to heavy !

All he needs is a working stud finder and peace and quiet.

Always keep a thin trim nail ,tap with hammer until the proper sound then dial it on in by nailing small surface trim nail until u find it . In your case use whatever I mean you know your going to cover any damaged sheet rock with your shelf ,it looks great btw
