I’m planting this today. I knew there was 2 types. But I forgot the names. You can plant the ground cover type if you use a thick landscaping fabric. Dig the trench. Lay fabric. Then replace dirt. Plant the plants. 😁👍 this keeps it contained.

Worth noting that although we nickname Liriope as a grass it isn't actually a grass at all it is a lilly .

I had an experience similar where I planted the spicata version in a border, and I had to dig it all up. I am planning to use Muscari to replace the Buxus (boxwoods) that are dying in my parterre.

Is the evil sister just a bit less prettier than the good sister? …with the good sis having prettier purple blooms and darker green leaves..OR do they look identical? Looking to plant some infront of my house as I'm trying to replace some bushes that died during the unexpected snow fall in texas in February (yes barely getting around to it bc baseball and summer vacation) also when is the best time to plant this monkeygrass?

Yeah you gotta be careful, those spicata like to jump borders. It’s tough to keep them contained

I think I have the wrong type! It was given to me by a neighbor! I have kept it down by removing all of the babies off but I put the babies on the border of my largest garden! Oh boy, I'm probably in trouble

Thank you for making this video. I’m planning on edging

a pretty large island in Liriope. It would have been a disaster.

Thank You. Yes, this mistake is now my nightmare! I’ll move a couple of my flowers that it hasn’t killed and will have to kill this plant. Thank you for the information! I didn’t research it years ago. The only other way I would bother using this is to replace grassy areas that I always keep mowed, which maybe I’ll try or like you just said in the video, to help with erosion, which would be helpful for me. Take care! 🕊🌷🕊

We bought a house and inherited the evil sister and it’s so awful. It’s ruining my flower bed and we’ve tried everything the only option is to remove 3 very established rose bushes and use chemicals to kill it and then start that bed over

I have my borders lined with Liriope Muscari, and, over the years, they have become really HUGE! Sadly, though, it seems birds ‘planted’ the invasive spicata for me in my beds!!😭😭 I certainly didn’t plant it. You are so right! It is a real nightmare! It is taking over my beds and has been a real challenge to clean it out, especially since I do not want to dig out the plants it is creeping around, and in. If even a tiny bit or berry is left, it grows back. So frustrating. I have my work cut out for me. Thanks for a great video👍🏼👍🏼

Hi! Just saw this and hopefully you can tell me if these be safe or not! My yard is mostly sand/weeds (Florida) and I was told about grass borders….I don't know ANYTHING about it…saw these at HomeDepot: Liriope-Mondo, Liriope Dwarf Mondo, Bush Daisy, Jasmine Asiatic, Liriope Aztec, Iris White

New subbie!! Came across your channel because I was at Lowe’s and they have all these big blue liriope for $1 clearance. I’ve learned the hard way in the past so I do a quick research while I’m still at Lowe’s before I buy or leave. Beautifully explained!!!
