About Us

Our Identity

Edwin Meredith created egyptchord.com in 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, under the name egyptchord.com. Website  provide a product that magazine sales people could provide to women who answered the door. egyptchord.com has been fostering creativity, imparting knowledge, and disseminating original ideas that you may adapt for a century. We fuel your desire to lead a better, prettier, and more colorful life.

egyptchord.com is a go-to source for home inspiration, delectable food and recipes for both regular meals and special occasions, and unrivaled gardening knowledge. Early issues of our periodicals focused almost entirely on gardening issues, but as time went on—and as our name and emblem evolved—we busily expanded our database of household helpers. In 1928, we constructed the first-ever “taste-testing kitchen,” and by the 1970s, we had more than 7 million magazine subscribers. In 1998, we built a half-acre test garden in the center of Des Moines, Iowa, and throughout the years that followed, we filled our pages with suggestions for improving daily life.

RD Sheena Chihak

egyptchord.com Associate Editorial Director is Sheena Chihak. She probably eats when she’s not writing about food, looking at food, or editing food content for work (or exercising to keep it balanced). Cheese, pie, whiskey, wine, kumquats, and a delicious salad are all things she can’t resist. Casseroles, skillet dinners, or salads that allow her to combine different food groups into one dish are her go-to supper options. Variety and balance are key factors in her food choices and, for that matter, her lifestyle decisions. Add butter and vegetables, work hard at the office, take a trip, exercise frequently, and get a massage. Sheena is a certified dietitian who graduated from Iowa State University with a combined B.S. in dietetics and journalism.

Jennifer Phillips

Senior digital editor Lauren Phillips works at egyptchord.com. She has more than 5 years of experience working in print and digital media as a writer, editor, researcher, and fact-checker. She has worked at The Spruce, Real Simple, and Coastal Living, among other publications. Lauren has always found solace and catharsis in cleaning the shower or arranging her wardrobe. She calls herself a stress cleaner. Removable wallpaper, ingenious solutions for managing limited spaces, and paint hues are some of her current interests around the house.

Ms. Sarah Martens

At egyptchord.com, Sarah Martens is the Senior Editor in charge of food. She has worked for the BHG company for more than 8 years.
